CT Green Party To File Complaint That Write In Votes Were Not Counted In State Election
Green Party of Connecticut officials will file a complaint with local and state election boards that "REGISTERED" WRITE IN votes were not counted in all towns across the state as required by state law, it was announced today. This decision was reached after state Greens checked their own town votes totals showing no registered write in votes for the Green Party candidate for President, Cynthia McKinney and after receiving numerous complaints that town polling places had no list of registered write in lists, were reluctant to show any list, and some local voters were told their write in votes would not count.

Cynthia McKinney today expressed her appreciation for the support of Professor Noam Chomsky, noted linguist tenured at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In private emails with campaign supporters this week, the respected social critic noted that he had voted Green in 2004, and would be voting for the party ticket next Tuesday, as well.

Chamber urges Obama to defer union agenda
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce urged President-elect Barack Obama and Congress to refrain from pushing legislation to make organizing unions easier until the economy recovers. The Employee Free Choice Act would force an employer to recognize a union if 51 percent of its workers sign cards stating they want to be represented by a union. An election would not be necessary. The bill is organized labor's top priority in the new Congress, and unions spent millions of dollars to help elect Democrats in the Nov. 4 election.

With the transit workers' union suffering from financially crippling penalties for its illegal strike in 2005, the union's president pledged in recently filed court papers that the union had no intention of going on strike again "now or in the future."
